Season 5
The Montreal Canadiens finally made it to the Finals after a 2 season disappearance facing the suprising Buffalo Sabres in the Finals. The Canadiens had an easy series since the Detroit Red Wings were eliminated by the Buffalo Sabres in a very exciting 3 game series. The regular season had Montreal win all its games 2-0 against Buffalo, 2-1 against Detroit and coming back from a 2 goal deficit to beat new Jersey 3-2 taking first place for the second consecutive time. The good news was Detroit was in 2nd place and beat New Jersey 1-0 and Buffalo 5-2 compiling 4 points. The Sabres and New Jersey game was the turning point in the whole league. If New Jersey won they would face Detroit otherwise they face Montreal. The Sabres then stepped up their game and won 5-0, then beat Detroit in 3 games to advance to teh Finals.They faced a very strong Montreal team that swept New Jersey easily in the semi finals. There was no suprise that Montreal won the series so fast, they said they will win the cup this season.
League Notes and Stats
When Buffalo used the coordinate they lost 5-2, when the didn't use the coordinate they went to the finals. So how about you stop using the coordinate now ALI?
Before the Season started, Montreal Journalists guessed the outcome of the season 7 and it was almost correct:
Montreal Deserved the 5 stars they got. They are unbeaten in their last 8 Games!
Detroit had 4 Stars until they lost game 3 at Detroit in the SemiFinals. This moved them to a disappointing 3 stars.
Buffalo Deserved 3 Stars but after their game against New Jersey they Deserved 4 Stars, but losing so fast and easily to Montreal puts them back to the 3 star level.
New Jersey with its first, second, third, fourth and fifth connsecutive losses and exit from the semi finals deserved 0 stars. But for leading the Montreal game 2-0 then losing 3-2 and 5-0 they deserve1 star for the effort.
